Should I Buy a Truck, and Why is the Answer YES?

Tired of never having space in the trunk? Maybe it's time to move and your friends with a truck can't help you with the heavy stuff like couches and washer/dryers. Maybe the time is now to buy a truck at the best truck dealership in the Jeff City area! The days have long passed since deciding between cars and trucks was about comfort or utility. The trucks that come out of the best dealership in Mid- Missouri have it all; comfort, spacious interiors, and the ability to haul nearly anything you can think of. Here are just a few reasons why you should buy a truck this Fall:

Trucks Are More Comfortable Than Ever.

In years past, trucks were utility vehicles, mostly used to haul equipment and tools. That isn't necessarily the case anymore. Trucks can come with a myriad of features, including back seats, comfort features like seat warmers, and helpful interior accessories like power outlets and rear view camera. Trucks have come a long way since the days of past.

Rough Terrain or Bad Weather? No Problem.

Trucks are designed to drive through difficult terrain. SUV's are supposed to be the perfect blend between a car and a truck, but when it comes to handling and steering in poor road conditions, they still can't hold a candle to a full sized truck.

Trucks Have Towing Capability.

Let's face it, The main attraction to a truck is its ability to tow things.Towing big toys, boats, trailers, and campers will be no problem, and a truck is the perfect all around vehicle for hauling nearly anything you can throw at it. The next time you see a compact car with a trailer hitch, laugh a little bit, because it probably can't haul more than a bike rack.

Vehicle Storage Space for Your Weekend Activities.

Thinking of taking a weekend journey? Maybe you want to pack up a tent and some bicycles for a trail ride and then set up camp in the woods. Well, you're in luck, because a truck can handle all of that with plenty of space, and you still have plenty of room in the cab for the family.

Missouri is Truck Country! Buy your next one from Spieler's

People are always in need of a truck. If you own a truck, you're likely going to be called upon for helping in parades, moving firewood, hauling hay, moving furniture, and possibly even heavy equipment for some pals. All of these are fairly common occurrences here in the Midwest. If you're feeling generous, a truck can be the perfect tool to help your friends.

Drive Safer- Trucks are designed to take a hit.

Compact vehicles are often designed to crumple in a way that sometimes ruins the vehicle at the expense of keeping the passengers safe. Trucks are generally built a bit higher than other vehicles and are usually built to be more rigid and durable too. This means that they can escape minor collisions with less damage than some compacts.

Cars just don't hold a candle to a trucks versatility. We'd love to help you out of the coupe and into an extended cab truck. Once you've gone from low on the road to sitting high, you'll never go back! Spieler's Inc. has the perfect truck for everyone. Stop by and schedule a test drive and FEEL the difference a truck can make.

The Difference Between Franchise and Independent Dealerships

Not all car dealerships are the same. Some are given their vehicle inventory straight from the manufacturer, while others are strictly used. Some of them even offer cars from certain manufacturers only, while some are able to offer from a variety, such as a Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep dealership. The important things to remember between franchised vehicle sales and independent vehicle sales are sometimes not so easy to see. That's why we've broken it all down and shown a few of the key differences. Just because we are franchised doesn't mean we aren't the best vehicle dealership in the Jefferson city area!

The Franchise Dealership

A franchised business, such as Spieler's Inc, have a contract with manufacturers that allows them to sell their vehicles. There are over 370 "new car" dealerships in Missouri alone, and each one averages $40 million dollars in vehicle sales every year. That's a huge sum of money! In order to keep that kind of sales, franchise dealerships have an inventory that can last anywhere from 60-90 days from the manufacturer.

Independent Dealerships

Used car lots, or car lots that gain their vehicles from auctions, private sellers, or trade-ins usually don't have to a lot of the training or customer service etiquette that a franchisee must contend with. This is due to their affiliation with the manufacturers. This doesn't mean that independent dealers are giving less than quality service; rather, that they are excused from the minimum requirements by the manufacturer to maintain the franchise status.

Training

Training at an independent dealership is based solely upon that particular dealership: however little or however much that turns out to be. A franchised dealership is required to train it's employees based on the manufacturers specifications. This could be remote training (online) or classroom technician training and sales training. Since new cars tend to come with manufacturers warranties, managers and staff are required to be knowledgeable and competent on how to explain the warranty to customers. Basically, as long as an independent dealership isn't breaking the law, they train employees however they like.

All About the Customer

Customer service is a tremendous deal to the manufacturers -they want to sell cars as much as the dealer! To assist with this, some manufacturers require franchisees to keep a waiting area to the customers. These areas can have fresh coffee, snacks, and drinks. Additionally, customers could also be given loaner vehicles, or transport to and from the dealership and it's many lots. Independent dealerships value customer service as well, but the extra costs that are associated with some of the aforementioned perks can keep a lot of dealerships away.

The preference between a franchise or an independent dealer is really a matter of opinion. Do you want a new car? If yes, then head to a franchise dealership and trade in your old car for a brand new model. If you want to go through an independent seller, you can be sure you're money is going directly to the dealership, but the financing options won't be as robust; finances tend to follow bigger businesses. The best car dealership in Mid-Missouri is franchised, and we love to show our customers our professional support! Come see us for some outstanding financing options on new or used vehicles in the Jefferson City area and we'll make sure you are given the best vehicle and best service we have to offer.

A Car Wash is Important but You'll NEVER Guess Why!

Car washing is one of those tasks that everyone tends to delay. It's tedious, time consuming, and the reward is intangible and tricky. At Spieler's Inc., all of our vehicles are washed and pampered for their soon to be owners. This isn't a trick to make the vehicle look better; it's an important tool to keep the car in premium health! Check out the reasons below that the best car dealership in Mid Missouri keeps their vehicles clean and washed!

Clean Car = Clear Visibility

An often overlooked advantage of a car wash is that it removes anything that obscures the windshield and rear glass. Wipers are fantastic but sometimes they simply can't remove all the muck. Washing your car will help clean that glass off and reach ALL of it- even where the wipers would miss! Having the clearest field of view is incredibly important when it comes to the safety of your vehicle and your family.

Protect That Paint!

Cars are covered in a thin layer of paint to make them more pleasing to the eye and for one other purpose: to protect the exterior of the car! The paint and it's protective coat are designed to prevent rust from forming and dirt from scratching the metal surface. So if you see a dirty vehicle, remember, the clear coat finish and paint are working overtime to prevent any damage to the body of the vehicle.

Value of the Wash

Washing a car regularly, by hand or machine, removes the dirt and grime that's built up by driving it all over. When the dirt stays on for a long time, the wind can move it causing micro-scratches in the finish and paint, which allows moisture and more dirt to get down to the bare body of the car. This is how rust begins to form and it can seriously damage the vehicle as well as significantly impact its value.

Wax On, Wax Off

Waxing a car does so much more than give it that shiny coat! Wax acts as an additional layer between the wind, dirt, rain, and bugs that just love to coat your car. Keep that in mind the next time you skip the wax coat during the car wash.

Hand or Machine Wash

When you hand wash a vehicle, you have a chance to visually and personally inspect the exterior. This allows you to find dents, scrapes, chips, and any other areas of concern. While it's more convenient to go to a machine wash bay, you're truly missing out on the chance to see/fix a minor problem before it grows. Hand washing is the much preferred option.

Clean and Safe

A car wash really can enhance the protection that a vehicle gives you. The vehicles at our dealership are washed and kept clean by the best maintenance and service department in Missouri. We want to protect not only your investment, but everyone inside the vehicle as well. Keep your car or truck clean and washed to avoid any issues this fall.

14 MUST-HAVE Items For Your Emergency Kit!

In a perfect world, accidents would never happen. Unfortunately, they DO happen. At the best car dealership in the Jefferson City area, the safety of the community is one of our top priorities. That's why we've put together a list of some must-have items you should keep in your vehicle to help you through emergency sitautions. These items should be checked regularly and updated as needed to ensure you are prepared for bad scenarios. Here are 15 things you should keep in the back of your vehicle in the case of an emergency!

First Aid

1. All-In-One Kit

This really should go unmentioned, but it's often overlooked. A first aid kit, complete with gauze, band-aids, and medical tape/antibiotic ointment really goes a long way in treating those accidental scrapes one can obtain while troubleshooting any emergency.

Blankets, Clothes & Heat

2. Wool Blanket

No matter what the weather is, people tend to sleep under a blanket or sheet, right? The same rule applies here. A wool blanket can keep you warm and protected from the elements should your vehicle break down or if you're in an accident.

3. Space Blanket

A space blanket is much more compact, but can keep you warm by reflecting your body heat and keeping it beneath the blanket. Don't rely on just the space blanket if you're outside in the cold! It has little or no insulation which means it's best combined with the wool blanket for proper safety and warmth.

4. Spare Clothes

A spare set of jeans and a jacket/plain shirt are perfect for an emergency, whether that's a stain or for staying dry!

5. Chemical Warmers

Hand and foot warmers interact with oxygen in the air, heating up and keeping you warm for hours. These are perfect for those moments in the winter when the worst could happen.

Food & Water

6. Snack Items

Nut bars and canned goods are perfect for the average emergency kit because of their ease of access and energy intake they can give the body. Don't forget the can opener!

7. Water

The most important supply to have on hand, bottled water can be used for drinking, for cooling, and for making food. A few small bottles or a gallon jug should be enough to keep you quenched and still have enough left over to be helpful.

 Lights & Energy

8. Flashlights

A flashlight is a perfect fit for every kit out there. Make sure to pack fresh batteries or use a flashlight that has a fresh charge. Also, in today's world, a cellphone is an essential item! Charging a portable battery and putting it in the pack is a great way to guarantee a working phone throughout the entire situation.

9. Glow Sticks & Flares/Road Triangles

Glow sticks are a mainstay item so that you don't need to rely on an electrical source of power for light.  If your car breaks down, road flares and reflective triangles can signal other drivers of your situation & keep the site luminous - keeping you from sitting in the dark!

Tool Kit

A tool kit is the centerpiece to the emergency bag. It should include several items that can be used in nearly every situation!

10. Knife

A knife can be used for opening packages, cutting tape, and tons of other useful things. Keeping a sharp knife in the bag is a must have.

11. Screwdrivers

Both Flathead and Phillips head screwdrivers can be used to fix a HUGE assortment of vehicle related issues. All in one jumpstart machines can provide a boost to a vehicle battery without two vehicles, some even include chargers for phones, and flashlights! These can replace the jumper cables found earlier on this list.

12. Jumper Cables

In case the vehicle battery is dead, or simply needs a boost, jumper cables can save the day, provided you have someone else with a vehicle nearby.

13. Jumpstart Machine

All in one jumpstart machines can provide a boost to a vehicle battery without two vehicles, some even include chargers for phones, and flashlights! These can replace the jumper cables found earlier on this list.

14. Camera

Documenting an accident and taking pictures of important things like drivers license's are essential for processes that take place after the emergency.

Emergencies Happen

It doesn't matter if you buy new or used vehicles at Spieler's Inc.- you need an emergency kit. Don't count on an all in one bag you can buy at the store. Making your own not only allows you to customize the bag, but you know EXACTLY what goes inside. There will be no question on what you can do when an emergency occurs. Remember, when you come to the best truck dealership in Jefferson City, we want you to be more than just happy, we want you safe!
