Buying a new car, truck, or SUV?

Buying a new vehicle has a lot of advantages. One of the biggest advantages is the warranty offered with each new vehicle.

For example, Chrysler vehicles are backed with a 5-Year/60,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. The Powertrain Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair a covered powertrain component (engine, transmission, and drivetrain system) on new Chrysler vehicles. Coverage also includes towing to the nearest Chrysler brand vehicles dealer, if necessary. The warranty is also transferable, so should you decide to sell your Chrysler during the warranty period, its new owner will inherit the remainder of the factory warranty for the duration of its coverage.

We also back every new Dodge vehicle with the 5-Year/60,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. It covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair a covered powertrain component. Coverage also includes towing to the nearest Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or Ram vehicle dealer, if necessary. The warranty is also transferable to a new owner during the warranty period.

Your new Jeep vehicle warranty includes a 3-Year/36,000-Mile coverage, and a 5-Year or 60,000-Mile powertrain coverage with towing assistance. Have the confidence to take your new Jeep anywhere you want to go! The warranty is also transferable to a new owner during the warranty period.

If it’s a truck you’re after. Ram trucks are warrantied Bumper to Bumper for 3-Years/36,000-Miles. The Powertrain Limited Warranty just like the ones listed above is 5-Year/60,000-Miles. We back our diesel vehicles with a 5-year/100,000-mile Diesel Powertrain Limited Warranty! Coverage also includes towing to the nearest Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or Ram vehicle dealer, if necessary. The warranty is also transferable to a new owner during the warranty period.

Top 5 Vacations within Driving Distance

Summer is here and so is vacation season! If you are looking to get away this summer but want to stay within driving distance, Spielers, Incorporated has the top five destinations within driving distance. These cities can make a great vacation spot no matter if you are looking for a family vacation, weekend trip or a romantic getaway. Your California MO Dealership is happy to give you some information about these destinations and what you can expect.

Branson, Missouri - 3 Hours

Only 3 hours south in the Ozark Mountains is a beautiful vacation spot that has been drawing visitors for over one hundred years. Branson has so much to offer whether you are looking for entertainment, shopping, beautiful scenery, or recreational activities. In the 1960s, music and comedy theaters started popping up and now Branson has hundreds of shows scattered all over the city. This is a great family atmosphere so bring the kids and enjoy Branson’s shows and natural beauty.

Hot Springs, Arkansas – 7 Hours

Claimed by Spanish and French settlers in the mid-1500’s Hot Springs gets its name from the natural thermal springs that are found there. These springs flow up out of the ground at an average temperature of 143 degrees. These hot springs produce almost one million gallons of water every day. Hot Springs is rich in history.  In the late 1800s through the mid-1900s was riddled with organized crime and was a hangout for many infamous mobsters. The springs, history, and view of the Ouachita Mountains make this a great vacation destination within driving distance.

Kansas City, Missouri – 2 Hours

Did you know Kansas City has more fountains than Rome? There are two hundred officially registered fountains within the Kansas City metro area. The largest city in Missouri is a haven for fun! The city has something for everyone from the Kansas City Zoo, Worlds of Fun, numerous museums, and you can’t forget Legoland. With so many options this may take a couple trips to see all of what Kansas City has in store for you and your family.

St. Louis, Missouri – 2 Hours 30 Minutes

Setting on the banks of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers is the gateway to the west. St. Louis is a city full of American history. The first steamboat arrived in 1817 and by the 1850s 500 steamboats would travel through the city each year. St. Louis was already a 40-year-old town when Thomas Jefferson signed the Louisiana Purchase! Outside of Washington, D.C., St. Louis has more free tourist attractions than any other city in the country.

Memphis, Tennessee – 6 Hours

Who doesn’t like history, food, and music? Memphis could be the most influential city to all music genres. The city has shaped influences from blues, country, soul and rock n’ roll. There is a list a mile long of historic places to visit but there are a few you must see. Sun Studio is where rock n’ roll was born! It is worth the stop! If you haven’t been, Graceland is something to see. A day on Beale Street is a must while in Memphis.

We hope you have enjoyed learning more about these cities. There are many places to visit for a vacation that don’t require flying or days in your car. Just remember you do have to come back home. If a family vacation is in your near future. Let our mid-MO vehicle service department look over your vehicle before you drive hours from home. Maybe it time to replace your old worn out car this summer. Our California, MO Car Dealership has a huge selection of new and pre-owned vehicles in stock. Come and experience how servicing and buying a new car is meant to be.

Top 5 Dodge Muscle Cars

The Mopar name originally debuted on a can of Chrysler Motor Parts Antifreeze. Mopar was simply the name of Chryslers OEM parts. The term has since been used among car enthusiast as a reference to vehicles produced by the Chrysler Corporation or now FCA US. The Mopar name is heavily used in the muscle car scene to describe any Chrysler or Dodge classic. If you are talking muscle cars, it is likely a Mopar performance car will be at the top of many lists. Today Spieler’s Incorporated will list our top 5 Dodge performance cars. Spieler’s Inc was established in 1968 so in our 51 years, we have seen a lot of Mopar performance come through our California, MO dealership.

1970 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi

The Charger had been a powerhouse in the muscle car scene in the late 1960s. The second generation being very desirable, originally planned for 35,000 actually sold over 96,000 in 1968. In the final year of its second generation, the 1970 Charger RT had the best styling to date with the chrome loop front bumper and full-width taillight. The 426 Hemi V8 pumped out 425 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque.

1970 Dodge Challenger R/T

1970 had it going on! This was the first year for the Challenger. Chrysler set out to have the hottest pony car as the Challenger set its sights on the Ford Mustangs and GM’s Camaro and Firebird. The Challenger was available in a number of trim levels as well as virtually every engine in Chryslers arsenal.

1991 Dodge Viper

Talk about a monster! With help from a Lamborghini designed V10 that made 400 horsepower the Viper ran a ¼ mile in 12.6 seconds at over 113 mph. Top speed was approximately 165 mph! The Viper is among the elite cars of its day. The Viper continued production until 2017. One of our all-time favorites!

1969 Dodge Charger Daytona

One of the most distinctive cars ever, the Daytona had a unique look. Only produced between 1969 and 1970, the huge nose and spoiler were made for aerodynamics. Just like the cars that ran in the Nascar track. A 440 Magnum or 426 Hemi set between the fenders. With low production numbers, these cars are among some of the most desired cars of all time.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

707 horsepower! Starting back in the mid-2000s the horsepower race was on between Ford and Chevy. A few years later after the smoke cleared entered a beast. This thing was so bad only six cars on the market had more power and those cars were so rare there were only about ten in all the US and all but two costs less than a million dollars. This car is so amazing, running zero to sixty in 3.6 seconds and the quarter mile at 11.2. This is one bad car!

As we covered some of our favorite Dodges of all time, we hope this brought you some excitement. Dodge has always produced some exciting cars and today cars are no different. Come into Spieler’s Incorporated and experience the Dodge car line up for yourself. We pride ourselves on making the buying process as easy and hassle-free as possible. Come see the best Dodge dealer in mid-Missouri!

Is Your Car Ready for Summer?

With summer coming so are road trips, kids sporting events, vacations and many other adventures that will rack up miles on your vehicle. Is your car ready for that? Spieler’s Inc would like to share some tips and tricks that will make traveling this summer safer and you can focus on what matters instead of worrying about having car troubles in Mid-MO.

Find Out What that Warning Light Means

Do you have a warning light on your dash? Not always will you notice your car acting any differently, but those lights don’t just come on for no reason. If you are going to have troubles you know it will happen while miles away from home, so if you have any warning lights on, have them diagnosed. Most of the time these can be checked with a scan tool and diagnosed very quickly. Don’t ignore these lights and save yourself an emergency.

Service You’re A/C System

Whether we are ready or not, it’s going to get hot eventually. Your A/C could be working fine but having it checked over could prevent a future issue. When air conditioners break down, refrigerant leaks and can damage the evaporator and compressor. Don’t get caught out on a hot and humid summer day with no air conditioning.

Inspect Your Tires

You should inspect your tires on a regular basis. Tires are the only component that physically touch the road! Not only do you need your tires in good condition for traction, but tires that are properly inflated will also increase your ride and fuel mileage. Your tires can also tell you a lot about your vehicle. If you notice uneven tread wear, you might need an alignment! It’s never fun putting a spare on in a remote area in 100-degree heat so check your tires over before you head out this summer.

Replace Your Wiper Blades

Windshield wiper blades wear down over time. After your wipers have cleaned off ice and snow all winter, they are probably in need of replacing. Summer will bring some rain and storms so make sure you can drive safely with wipers that repel the rain well. While replacing those worn out blades also top off your windshield washer fluid so you can remove those nasty summertime bug splatters.

Check Coolant Level

Pop your hood and look for any obvious issues. While you are in the engine compartment check your coolant level in the reservoir. You want your car to stay at a nice and cool operating temperature during the hot summer months. If the level is low, it can be easily topped off with pre-diluted mixtures. If you can’t tell where the coolant has escaped, you will want to have the coolant system inspected.

Summer can be harsh on your vehicle. There are several things to check or inspect before heading out on your summer journeys. You and your family’s safety is very important to us. If you would like to have a professional look over your ride, stop by Spieler’s Inc today. Our California, MO car dealership can give you that peace of mind that your car is ready to tackle the summer.

Be Prepared When Buying Your Next Vehicle!

Being prepared is essential when buying your next vehicle. It helps ease anxiety and makes the entire process run as smooth as possible. A vehicle whether new or used is a big investment, so before arriving make sure you have all of your paperwork in order. For a pleasant, no-pressure car shopping experience, visit Spieler’s Incorporated. To help you better prepare to shop for a new ride, the best car dealer in Mid-MO has provided a list of things you should consider bringing along with you. Even if you are not sure you will make a decision right away, it never hurts to be prepared in case you do decide to make a vehicle purchase.

Documentation Needed to Test Drive:

Driver’s License
If you find a vehicle you wish to test drive, the first item needed is a copy of your driver’s license. The dealership will keep this on record while you are out driving their vehicle.

Current Vehicle Insurance
Before you can take off in a car for a test drive, you will also need to show the salesperson proof of current auto insurance for their records. A dealer wants to make sure that you are insured if something were to happen while you are driving one of their vehicles around town.

Paperwork for a Purchase

Payment Information
Whether you are receiving financing for the vehicle you plan to purchase, or paying upfront, you will need to get your payment strategy solidified. If you wish to get pre-approved from a lender, you can bring proof of that with you to the dealer. Many car dealerships provide financing services, in which they can help you find a bank that can do a loan on the vehicle you wish to purchase.

If You Have A Trade-In

Vehicle Title
If you plan to trade your current vehicle in when purchasing a new one, be sure to bring the title with you to the dealership. A trade-in cannot happen without the proper title work performed. Check your title over and ensure there is not a co-signer, if there is, that individual will need to sign the title as well.

Proof of Insurance
You will have to provide proof of insurance on a new vehicle before driving it off the lot, if it is financed. A simple phone call can be made to your insurance agent so they can get the paperwork squared away. If you have proof of full coverage on the vehicle you are trading-in, the dealership may accept that as proof of insurance. If this is the case, contact your insurance agent as soon as possible to ensure your new car is properly covered.

Vehicle Registration
Registration of your trade-in will be needed as well. Bring your current vehicle registration with you to the car dealer when looking for a new ride.

Best Dealership In Mid-Missouri

Now that you know what to bring when considering buying a car in Mid-MO, you can be better prepared to make a purchase after you find the right vehicle. For an enjoyable experience at a car dealer, visit Spieler’s Inc. in California, MO. We have no hidden fees— the price you agree on, is the price you pay! If there is a specific vehicle you are interested in, call us at 573-796-3129 to schedule a test drive.

7 Bad Driving Habits To Break

Last year there were about 50,000 people injured in vehicle collisions in Missouri. This number can be reduced by practicing safe driving habits. Many drivers fall victim to bad driving habits that develop over time. Your trusted car dealer in Mid-MO is here to point out some of those bad habits that drivers should break. Spieler’s Inc. cares about your safety and the safety of others on the road.

Phone Usage

Distracted driving is the cause of many accidents. Looking at your phone instead of focusing on the road is a dangerous distraction. Even if you are watching the road while on a phone call, you still may be more focused on your conversation than driving.

Speeding

A common bad habit for many drivers is speeding. Speed limits are set for the purpose of keeping drivers safe. Usually speeding will not get a driver to their destination that much quicker. Take your time when driving and leave in plenty of time to avoid going over the speed limit when traveling on the road.

Following Too Close

A good rule of thumb is to allow 1 car length for every 10mph you are traveling. For example, if you are going 60mph, you want to have 6 car lengths of space between your car and the car in front’s bumper. Allowing adequate room between vehicles gives enough time to react if the car in front were to break suddenly.

Lack of Turn Signal Use

Many drivers do not use a turn signal when turning or changing lanes. This helps show other drivers on the road which direction you plan to turn or merge. If you do not use a turn signal, another driver may not be aware of where you plan to move your vehicle.

Not Checking Blind Spot

Blind spots are a common issue for most drivers. Some will check their mirror and make a move on the road according to what their mirror shows. Physically turning to check the blind spot of your vehicle can help reveal the actual situation on the road around you.

Speed Up Through Yellow Light

When a light turns yellow, many drivers will accelerate through the intersection to avoid stopping at the soon approaching red light. When a driver speeds through, the light may have already turned red which triggers the alternating lights to turn green. This can lead to an unnecessary wreck in an intersection.

Not Wearing Safety Restraint

Wearing a seatbelt while driving or riding in a vehicle is not only the law, but a huge safety precaution. Unfortunately wrecks do happen and having a seatbelt on helps to keep the individual in their seat. Keeping your safety device buckled while the car is in motion can improve your chances for surviving if a crash does occur.

Many people are injured due to vehicle collisions each year. Practicing safe driving habits can help eliminate some of these injuries. Driving is a very important responsibility that should not be taken lightly. Driving safely can help make the roadways a better place for everyone to travel. The best car dealer in Mid-MO is here to help you by providing information and tips on vehicles, driving and more!

A Basic Guide to Car Batteries

Batteries are one of the most important aspects of cars. Without the battery, your car would not be able to run. How much do we know about this important element? What happens when it dies? Is there a way to make it last longer? Are we supposed to do regular maintenance on it? If your car won’t start, is it actually the battery or is it something else? Spieler’s Inc has all the answers to these questions and more.

Know Your Battery

Commercial use of lead acid batteries has been around for over 100 years old. If you understand the basics, you will have fewer battery problems and a longer lasting battery. Lead-acid batteries are made up of plates, lead and lead oxide, with a 35 percent sulfuric acid and 65 percent water solution. This solution is called electrolyte, which causes a chemical reaction that produces electrons. When testing a battery with a hydrometer, you are actually measuring the amount of sulfuric acid in the electrolyte. When your reading is low, it means that your battery is lacking the chemistry that makes electrons. The sulfur will rest on the battery plates; recharging the battery will allow the sulfur to return to the electrolytes.

Battery Life

Average battery life has decreased significantly and energy requirements have increased. The life of your battery depends on usage. They can last from 6 months to 2 years, yet very few car batteries last the full 2 years. Usually, the main issue related to battery failure is sulfation build-up. This occurs when the sulfur molecules in the battery acid begin to coat the lead plates. The plates become so coated that the battery dies. There are many reasons that this build-up can occur such as the battery sitting too long between charges, battery stored without some type of energy input, extreme heat or cold weather, low electrolyte level and incorrect charging levels and settings.

Battery Maintenance

The battery should be cleaned using a wire brush and a solution of one tablespoon baking soda and a cup of water. To prevent corrosion of the cables on top post batteries, use a small amount of silicone sealer at the base of the post and place a felt battery washer over it. Coat the washer with either high-temperature grease or petroleum jelly, and then place the cable on the post and tighten. Coat the exposed cable end with grease.

Battery Charging

It is important to make sure your battery is keeping a full charge. If the battery is not charging fully, it will sulfate, which affects the performance and longevity. The alternator should keep the battery charged.  If your car is sitting for long periods of time, it is a good idea to keep a charger hooked up to the battery. Also, seasonal battery run items, such as ATVs, boats and motorcycles, should be hooked up to chargers before being stored to ensure the battery stays charged.

Battery, Alternator or Starter

When your car won’t start you will want to check the battery, alternator and starter to determine the issue. These parts all work closely together, so it can be hard to determine which one has failed.

Signs of a Dead Battery

  • Low whining sound when attempting to start the car.
  • Jump starting the car works, but the car will not start again after turning it off.

Signs of a Failed Alternator

  • The smell of burning rubber or hot wires can come from the alternator overheating.
  • Headlights and dash lights may flicker or get extra dim (gauges may also behave strangely).
  • Jump starting works, but the engine dies right afterward.

Signs of a Failed Starter

  • Clicking sounds when you turn the key.
  • Car won’t start, but dash lights still turn on.
  • Jump starting doesn’t work.

Car Maintenance Made Easy with Spieler’s Inc.

When your car won’t start, the worst case scenarios will all run through your mind. Before you panic, check the battery, alternator and starter. If you regularly charge and perform maintenance on your battery, you could prevent the worst case scenario issues. If you have any problems with your car, call the Spieler’s service team at 573-796-3129.

Moonroof vs. Sunroof

Whether the car you’re purchasing is used or new, the features that come with it are important. With a brand new car, you get to choose which features you want or don’t want. With used cars, the features can be a deciding factor on whether or not that car is for you. One common feature among cars includes moonroofs and sunroofs. Many people use these terms interchangeably, but is there actually a difference between the two? Yes, and Spieler’s Inc is here to break down the difference for you.

Moonroofs

A moonroof is considered a type of sunroof that has a tinted glass panel that is actually an additional window in the roof of a car. It might also tilt upwards to allow fresh air to enter the car, but will not open completely. A glass moonroof will allow more sunlight to enter a car without the need to open it, which allows you to enjoy the sun no matter the weather conditions. A moonroof usually comes with a sliding panel that is upholstered to match the interior of the car.

Sunroofs

Originally, sunroofs were only opaque, if the glass was transparent, it was considered a moonroof. Today, however, sunroofs and moonroofs can both be made of transparent glass. Most sunroofs slide back and forth to completely open. Sunroofs can be electronically powered or manual. Manual sunroofs may include vents rather than a sliding panel. Sunroofs let in a variable amount of light into a vehicle depending on how much they are opened.

Types of Sunroofs

There are many different types of sunroofs available including:

Pop-up: Manually operated glass that pops out when in the open position. Sometimes these types of sunroofs can be entirely removed.

Built-in: Fully automatic and slides between the car’s roof when opened. These types can come with bonus features that include sun shade, auto-close, vents and more.

Tilt ‘n Slide: A combination of sliding inside and popping out for ventilation.

Top Mount: This type of sunroof operates on rails located on top of the car’s roof. Usually, they come with a wind deflector to prevent unwanted noise at high speeds.

Panoramic: A large or multi-paneled glass that offers openings at the front and rear seats. They could be operable or fixed glass panels.

Foldable: Some European cars may feature sunroofs that collapse back similar to the way convertible tops fold back. They are made of fabric and open wider than any glass sunroof.

While sunroofs and moonroofs are similar, there is a clear difference between them. When shopping for your next car at your family-owned Central Missouri car dealership, these differences can help you choose which option is best for you. Call our sales department today at 573-796-3129 or visit our website to see which options Spieler’s has available.
